Our fifteen-day journey includes the iconic cultural and historical cities throughout Italy. We start in the north with the cities of Milan, Verona and Venice, including a day at Lake Como and the elegant town of Bellagio. Then it’s south to Rome where guests will discover the layered history of the Vatican and ancient Rome and experience the intimacy of the small towns along the Amalfi Coast.

Day 1: Milan

  • Arrive in Milan. Guests will take private transportation from the airport to the hotel.
  • Guests will stay overnight in Milan.

Day 2: Lake Como–Bellagio

  • Breakfast will be served at the hotel in Milan.
  • A private car service will meet guests at the hotel; guests will be driven to Lake Como, the third largest, and most beloved lake in the country. With the picturesque towns and villas that line its shores, it is no wonder Lake Como is a favorite destination of the international Jet Set.
  • Guests will tour the eighteenth-century Villa Carlotta and botanical garden, and then visit the “pearl of Lake Como,” the charming village of Bellagio.
  • At the end of the tour, our driver will transfer guests to their hotel in Milan.
  • Guests will stay overnight in Milan.

Day 3: Milan Historic Center

  • Breakfast will be served at the hotel in Milan.
  • In the morning, guests will take a walking tour through the historic center of Milan, visiting the Milan Cathedral, the 19th century glass-vaulted arcade of the Vittorio Emanuele II Galleria, the “Teatro alla Scala”, one of the most important opera houses in the world, and
  • the famous quadrilateral area–Milan’s heart of fashion and shopping.
  • In the afternoon, our driver will take guests to the Milan train station. Guests will travel first class by train to Verona. In Verona, our driver will take guests to their hotel.
  • Guests will stay overnight in Verona.

Day 4: Verona

  • Breakfast will be served at the hotel.
  • Guests will tour the historic center of Verona, including the Arena–a still-functioning and third largest Roman amphitheater in Italy–along with the romantic Juliet’s House and its famous balcony, and Piazza Erbe, among other sites.
  • Guests will stay overnight in Verona.

Day 5: Venice

  • Breakfast will be served at the hotel in Verona.
  • In the morning, guests will be driven to the Piazzale Roma in Venice, where an English-speaking assistant will coordinate a private boat to their hotel.
  • In the afternoon, guests will take a private walking tour through the most important places of the city while enjoying the ambiance of the surrounding canals bounding with gondolas and boats.
  • Guests will stay overnight in Venice.

Day 6: Grand Canal–Island of Murano

  • Breakfast will be served at the hotel in Venice.
  • Guests will tour the Grand Canal, stopping off at the island of Murano, famous for its long tradition of glass blowing. A visit to an art gallery is included.
  • Guests will stay overnight in Venice.

Day 7: Padua–Ferrara

  • Breakfast will be served at the hotel in Venice.
  • In the morning, guests will take a private boat from their hotel to Piazzale Roma in Venice. From here, they will be driven to Bologna. On the way, guests will visit the cities of Padua and Ferrara.
  • In Padua, guests will visit the Scrovegni Chapel, famed for its 14th century frescoes, the Church of the Hermits, the 13th century Palazzo della Ragione, and the extraordinary Basilica of St. Anthony, one of only eight international shrines recognized by the Holy See.
  • Traveling on to Ferrara, the “City of the Renaissance,” guests will have a private tour of the city’s historic center, starting with the moated medieval castle, Castello Estense. The tour will continue with the monumental Corso Ercole I d’Este and great Renaissance palaces.
  • Afterwards, guests will be driven to Bologna.
  • Guests will stay overnight in Bologna.

Day 8: Bologna–Maranello

  • Breakfast will be served at the hotel.
  • In the morning, guests will take a private tour of Bologna’s historic center.
  • Afterwards, guests will be driven to Maranello, the hometown of the Ferrari Museum.
  • Guests will stay overnight in Bologna.

Day 9: The Squares and Fountains of Rome

  • Breakfast will be served at the hotel in Bologna.
  • In the morning, guests will be driven to the train station in Bologna and will travel first class to Rome. At the arrival, guests will have private transportation from Roma Termini station to their hotel.
  • In the afternoon, guests will enjoy a walking tour of the historic center. Here they will see the renowned squares and fountains, such as the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, among other sites.
  • Guests will stay overnight in Rome.

Day 10: Vatican Museums

  • Breakfast will be served at the hotel.
  • In the morning, guests will visit the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica.
  • In the afternoon, guests will be free to explore the city on their own.
  • Guests will stay overnight in Rome.

Day 11: Ancient Rome

  • Breakfast will be served at the hotel.
  • In the morning, guests will be free to explore Rome on their own.
  • Optional on Wednesday morning: guests may attend a Papal Audience and receive a blessing by the Pope in St. Peter’s Square.
  • In the afternoon, guests will be introduced to the sites of ancient Rome, including the Roman Forum, the Colosseum, Circus Maximus and the Baths of Caracalla.
  • Guests will stay overnight in Rome.

Day 12: Naples 

  • Breakfast will be served at the hotel in Rome.
  • In the morning, guests will be driven to the Termini train station in Rome, where they will travel first-class to the city of Naples, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and home to the last Kings of Italy.
  • In Naples, guests will be greeted by a driver and guide who will take them on a tour of the city’s historic center.
  • At the end of the visit, guests will be driven to Sorrento.
  • Guests will stay overnight in Sorrento.

Day 13: Pompeii–Oplonti (Villa Poppaea)

  • Breakfast will be served at the hotel.
  • In the morning, guests will be driven to the archaeological site of Pompeii. In the company of a guide, guests will visit this archeological site of a Roman city buried by the volcanic eruptions of Mount Vesuvius in 79 CE.
  • Guests will enjoy tasting wine and other typical products on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius. Later, guests will visit the ancient site of Oplonti where excavations have unearthed the luxurious Villa of Poppaea.
  • Guests will stay overnight in Sorrento.

Day 14: Amalfi Coast

  • Breakfast will be served at the hotel.
  • During their private tour of the Amalfi Coast, guests will visit the three picturesque villages of Positano, Ravello and Amalfi.
  • Guests will stay overnight in Sorrento.

Day 15: Sorrento – Naples

  • Breakfast will be served at the hotel in Sorrento.
  • Guests will be driven to the Naples airport.
